ReadLume can read three kinds of things aloud: a web novel from a URL, a PDF, and an EPUB. Each has its own import path, and knowing which to use saves you a false start. Here is the short version, followed by when to reach for each one.
The three import routes
- By URL (web novels). Paste a chapter link from a site like freewebnovel.com or novelfull.com. ReadLume follows the series from there. This is the paid feature and the reason the app exists. Full steps are in the import-by-URL guide.
- PDF. Open a PDF from your phone's storage or a cloud file, and ReadLume reads it aloud. Free.
- EPUB. Open an EPUB the same way. ReadLume treats its chapters as a table of contents and flows through them. Free.
Which web novels work
One important limit to know: ReadLume works with free web novels only, the ones whose chapters are openly readable on the page. Content locked behind a paywall or a subscription, such as Wattpad or WebNovel's paid chapters, cannot be imported, because the text is not publicly accessible to fetch. Free sources work well, including freewebnovel.com, novelfull.com, fanmtl.com, readnovelmtl.com, asianovel.net, and novellive.com.
Which one to use
Pick by where the story lives. If it is on a web-novel site and updates over time, use URL import, that is the only route that follows a live, growing series. If you already have the whole book as a file you own, use PDF or EPUB. A rule of thumb: URL for serials you follow, files for books you have downloaded or bought.
What happens after import
Once a story is in, the experience is the same across all three: press play and ReadLume reads aloud in a neural voice, auto-advances to the next chapter, and keeps playing with the screen off. It remembers your position, so you can close the app and pick up later exactly where you stopped. The mechanics are explained in how ReadLume reads web novels aloud.
Start fresh or continue where you left off
It works from any point in a series. Paste the link to chapter one to start a new novel and hear it straight through, or paste your current chapter's URL to carry on from exactly where you stopped reading elsewhere. Both start playing in seconds, and both are ad-free.
If a web novel will not import
Occasionally a site blocks automated access or hides its chapters behind logins, and a URL will not load cleanly. When that happens, try a different chapter link from the same series, or check that the page shows the full chapter text rather than a preview. The URL guide covers troubleshooting in more detail, and first-time setup is in set up ReadLume for hands-free web novel audio.
